St Emily de Vialar - Patron Saint of Single Women

I love this quote from St. Emily de Vialar
The others are good food for thought also.....but the first is my favorite.

"The Lord causes to burn within me that same fire which He enkindled long ago, and I rejoice in this grace, for if God did not breathe into me the spirit of zeal, my heart would cease to be quickened and then I would not be able to do anything. May He, in His goodness, grant that as long as I live this divine fire may not be extinguished."

“Love of God is service to the poor.”

“Let us have no other wish than to work for God’s glory.”

"Since God does so much for me, what could I not do for him?"

Triple Prayer of Confidence

I am often given parts for Rosaries by my fellow parishioners and one time I was given some books written and published back at about Vatican II time. The following is a Triple Prayer, of trust and confidence in Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, as well as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  I love these older prayers that I think have disappeared.
My Triple Prayer
Eternal Father for the love of the Eternal Son, and for the love of the Eternal Holy Ghost, grant my request.
Eternal Son for the love of the Eternal Father, and for the love of the Eternal Holy Ghost, grant my request.
Eternal Holy Ghost for the love of the Eternal Father and for the love of the Eternal Son, grant my request.
O my Crucified Jesus, for the love of the ever adorable Trinity, and for the love of Mary Joseph, grant my request.
O Mary, my Mother, for the love of the ever adorable Trinity, and for the love of Jesus and Joseph, obtain my request.
O Holy St. Joseph, for the love of the ever adorable Trinity, and for the love of Jesus and Mary, obtain my request.
ACT OF CONFIDENCE
Heart of Jesus, I adore Thee,
Heart of Mary, I implore thee,
Heart of Joseph, meek and just,
In these three Hearts I place my trust.

Most extraordinary graces have been received through the use of this prayer, which in one cry of confidence, directly and immediately calls upon Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and Jesus Mary, Joseph

Apologetic Opportunities

Lately I have been drawn to enlighten folks about the Catholic church.....for some reason I have had a few opportunities lately to correct misconceptions that folks have.  I never thought I would be an apologist. Therefore....the reason for posting this image....we must be the true humble image of Christ.

St. Basil the Great Prayer

As I was sitting in Adoration last night....this prayer came to my mind.  I have my first private tutoring client and I thank God for this opportunity to make a difference in a child's life. I know that our Lord is leading me down a new path.

Blessed Miguel Pro Prayer

I believe, O Lord; but strengthen my faith...
Heart of Jesus, I love Thee; but increase my love.
Heart of Jesus I trust in Thee; but give greater vigor to my confidence.
Heart of Jesus, I give my heart to Thee; but so enclose it in Thee that it may never be separated from Thee.
Heart of Jesus, I am all Thine; but take care of my promise so that I may be able to put it in practice even unto the complete sacrifice of my life.

More Spiritual Gifts

More food for thought....here are a few more areas where we may have Charisms or Gifts given to us from our Heavenly Father.  We may be performing these things and don't even realize it.  Do you think you are compelled to any of these inventory items?  As always I invite discussion.

Spiritual Gifts

"Whatever the good God has given me
has always pleased me, even the gifts
which  have appeared to me less good
and less beautiful than those received
by others."

                         -St. Therese of Lisieux

One of the strengths on my assessment from the Called and Gifted workshop I went to this weekend was Voluntary Poverty......at the time I joked about this, it wasn't my idea but God's idea that I should be THIS humble. I was thinking about this more this morning and....yes I do follow this lifestyle.
I have listed a few of the Charisms listed in the inventory; just at a quick glance ( I know many haven't attended this workshop) which do you think you can identify with?
Administration
Evangelism - Not as hard and scary as we think.
Giving - Maybe you already do this without knowing
Music
Service

Each day I will add a few more.....there are 24 areas. I welcome comments whether you have been to one of these workshops or not.

Called and Gifted

I was at a Called and Gifted workshop this past weekend…..WOW…it was fantastic.
One of my favorite individuals, Mary Sharon Moore, was the speaker. I love listening to her and learning from her. Her presentation is so lively and the woman knows her stuff.
We were first guided to remember that we are all commissioned by God and given Charisms/gifts at Baptism and Confirmation for the good of God’s work to take out to the community/world.  There were 24 Charisms discussed. Our homework the first night was to take inventory through 120 questions, and evaluate on a scale of 0-3 the level of importance or occurrence of particular events in our daily lives.  Very easy to do, and then total your scores to find where your strengths are. It is interesting to see how there may be more that one area you are gifted in and how they work together.
This was sponsored by the Catherine of Siena Institute out of Colorado Spring CO.   Thank you,
Siena Institute, so much for this ministry. Additionally, Mary Sharon Moore is an excellent teach and speaker.  I was blessed to be at a Women’s Retreat a couple of years ago where she was the presenter, and was so happy to see her again.   She has also written many books, one in particular that fit this workshop very well, “Anointed for a Purpose”.
If you can…schedule this workshop in your area, it is a must attend.  Clear out the clutter and enable yourself to get down to the real work God intends for you.

Silence - Where we find God

New piece on SEImagesonline
I grew up near the California Redwoods.....that must be where my love for the outdoors began. There is nothing better than a quiet, peaceful path. I am closer to God when I am there taking in all the sights and aromas.

Love the Silence

While sitting in the silence with God, one of two things are sure to happen......either there is truly silence, or I hear the whisper of God in my heart and mind.

Pray Mother Mary's Joys

Friday's Prayer Tool
The Seven Decade Crown Rosary
The history of the Rosary of the Seven Joys of the Blessed Virgin dates back to the early 15th century. A pious young man named James had been accustomed to adorning a beautiful statue of Mary with a crown of flowers, which he had picked and woven himself. He later entered the Franciscan Order, but either because of a lack of time or permission, he was no longer able to continue this devotion. Distraught because of this, he decided to abandon the religious life and return to the world.
Our Lady then appeared to him and convinced him not to leave the order. She told him that he should not be downcast because he was no longer permitted to adorn her statue, for she would teach him a way to give her honor which was much more pleasing and meritorious. Instead of a crown of flowers, which quickly wither, he was to weave a crown of prayers, and these prayers could be offered at any moment. She then taught him the Rosary of the Seven Joys, adding that these prayers would not only form a more acceptable crown, but they would also yield innumerable graces for himself and others.

This simple but beautiful devotion of praying the Crown of the Seven Joys of the Blessed Virgin soon spread over the entire Franciscan Order and was officially established in 1422
